The Shore Democrats marked 2011 by increasing the number of community activities
in which its members are involved.
During the year Shore Democrats delivered more than 500 meals to the needy
through the Meals on Wheels program of the Cheer Center.
Knitters made more than 300 knitted clothing items and 100 lap robes, all of
which were donated to groups serving veterans, Hispanic residents, children, and
hospitalized patients, including the American Legion C.K.R.T. Post 7, La Esperanza, La
Red, and Hospice Delaware.
Other Shore Democrats turned out to clean up local roads adopted by the
organization and the 38th District Democratic Committee.
In addition, members volunteered to serve as coordinators and hosts for a
Bethany Beach house adopted for the annual Beach and Bay Cottage Tour.
At year’s end Shore Democrats also donated well over a hundred books to La
Red in Georgetown, for distribution to children who are immunized at the medical
center.
“We’ll be continuing all of these community activities in 2012, in addition to
working on what looks to be an active election campaign,” said Lee I. Dogoloff,
president of the Shore Democrats.
The group’s monthly luncheons, which feature speakers on timely local topics,
are open to nonmembers. For more information, see www.shoredemocrats.org.
